2021 CS Louis T. Rader Undergraduate Service Award Winner: Neil Singh
About Neil:
I am a fourth-year from the Systems Engineering department and my research interests lie in air traffic control. Post-graduation, I will be joining EY as a Technology Consultant. After an enjoyable experience as a 2110 student, I had the chance to join the TA team. I am very grateful for this opportunity and have enjoyed every minute of it! I would like to thank all of my professors, peers, and family for their support throughout my time here at UVA. -
2021 CS Louis T. Rader Undergraduate Teaching Award Winner: Mike Ferguson
About Mike:
I am a graduating fourth year with a mission to explore the frontiers of what is possible with artificial minds. In Fall 2019, I created the student taught class, CS 1501: Artificial General Intelligence that was taught to almost 150 students over three semesters here at UVA. This class would not have happened without ESC's generous support, as well as Professor Rich Nguyen! I am most proud of having read one book per week for almost three years, totaling over 140 books on AI, philosophy, literature, and science in my quest to understand the mind and the brain. -

I am a 4th year from South Florida. I have been a TA since my 2nd year and have TAed for CS 2150, 4102, and 1501 (tools of the trade). I have also been a HUGE advocate in bridging the gender gap in STEM by volunteering for middle and high school visitation with SWE and being a mentor and growing the community of women pursuing CS through WiCS. After graduation, I will be a software engineer at Microsoft! How Madison achieved success this year:
Jumping on zoom calls with friends, attending virtual CIO events, and socially-distanced picnics! -
2021 CS Louis T. Rader Undergraduate Teaching Award Winner: Ibrahim Hamdy
About Ibrahim:
I am primarily interested in the intersection between computational theory and design. Something I find very interesting is quantum computing and the possible applications of a quantum computer. I'm also very interested in operating system design and artificial intelligence. Outside of school, I like to paint, read, go hiking, and see my friends. A fun fact about me is that I'm half Egyptian. -
2021 CS Louis T. Rader Undergraduate Teaching Award Winner: Ann Hoang
About Ann:
I have always been a risk taker: from braving a foreign community as an immigrant at ten years old, to taking my first computer science class, to reaching the top of a rock climbing wall without ropes. I hope to continue to this bravery streak after graduation where I will be working in the contracting space as a software engineer. -
