Graduate Engineering Student Council

The Graduate Engineering Student Council (GESC) exists to improve the quality of the graduate engineering experience, increase the value of the SEAS graduate diploma, promote a culture of giving back to the University within the SEAS graduate student community, foster an active research culture among graduate students, represent the SEAS graduate students to the faculty, administration, and partner organizations, allocate funds for worthy student activities, and to foster interdepartmental exchange and communication.

According to the GESC constitution, below are all the missions of GESC as a student-run organization at UVA, SEAS Graduate school

  1. Improve the quality of the graduate engineering experience.
  2. Increase the value of the SEAS graduate diploma.
  3. Promote a culture of giving back to the University and local communities within the SEAS graduate student community.
  4. Foster an active research culture among graduate students.
  5. Allocate funds for worthy student activities.
  6. Foster interdepartmental exchange and communication.
