Study Abroad
Students expanding their horizons and getting real-time experience
The Department of Engineering & Society has an established track record of leadership in engineering study abroad. In line with the department’s emphasis upon the interconnectedness of technology and society, department-led study abroad programs help students to appreciate the global impact of engineering and the ways in which different cultures view and embrace technology.
At present, E&S faculty lead engineering study abroad programs in Germany (May-June) and Costa Rica (January). In recent years, department faculty have also led programs in Guatemala (Engineering, Public Health, and Community Development) and Lithuania (Sustainable Urban Design Challenges).

During J - Term a cohort of students went to Costa Rica. Braving the strong Tilaran winds, they visited the Alisios Wind Farm, owned by Corporacion Multi Inversiones (CMI).
